SOK has supported several local schools who provide special education for mentally or physically handicapped children, with items to help, support or entertain them. Money is never given, all items are purchased by SOK and are much needed at the time. Each year a Special Charity day is held which entails a lawn bowls game, meals, sale table etc. Members and friends are encouraged to   attend and join in. Welfare The Welfare committee is a link between the sick or the injured members and the general body of members. The committee receives reports and takes any necessary action. This may involve home, hospital or hostel visits, assistance with transport, "Get Well" or bereavement cards, club representation at funerals and donations to medical organisations as requested. Welfare has a stock of medical aids for short term loan, including wheelchairs, walking frames, calipers, crutches and walking sticks etc. Sponsorship The South Oakleigh Club proudly provides sponsorship for the following organisations Bentleigh Football Club South Oakleigh Secondary College Murrumbeena Football Club Oakleigh Warriors Basketball Bentleigh ANA Cricket Club Coatesville Primary School Katandra School for Special Kids Bayside Special Development Centre Stepping Stones Monash Medical Centre Community Benefits In the past year, over $70,000 has been provided in benefits to local charities and organisations such as room hire, and goods and services which are donated free of charge.
