Sign of Kindness (SOK)
SOK is the Charity section of the South Oakleigh Club. SOK has supported several local
schools who provide special education for mentally or physically handicapped children,
with items to help, support or entertain them. Money is never given, all items are purchased
by SOK and are much needed at the time. Each year a Special Charity day is held which
entails a lawn bowls game, meals, sale table etc. Members and friends are encouraged to
attend and join in.
Welfare
The Welfare committee is a link between the sick or the injured members and the general
body of members. The committee receives reports and takes any necessary action.
This may involve home, hospital or hostel visits, assistance with transport, "Get Well"
or bereavement cards, club representation at funerals and donations to medical
organisations as requested. Welfare has a stock of medical aids for short term loan,
including wheelchairs, walking frames, calipers, crutches and walking sticks etc.
Sponsorship
The South Oakleigh Club proudly provides sponsorship for the following organisations
Bentleigh Football Club
South Oakleigh Secondary College
Murrumbeena Football Club
Oakleigh Warriors Basketball
Bentleigh ANA Cricket Club
Coatesville Primary School
Katandra School for Special Kids
Bayside Special Development Centre
Stepping Stones Monash Medical Centre
